HISTORY OF MUSIC-SPORTS
HISTORY OF MUSIC-SPORTS
The Music-Sports League was inspired by a dream that Juan had back in 2014. That evening while watching American Idol, he thought to himself how cool it would be to see rappers against singers. Coincidentally, that night, he found himself in a large arena where a rapper was competing against a singer on stage. Juan was more impressed by how the event felt similar to a major fight card than a music competition. The next morning, he called his mother telling her about the dream. His mother replied, "Juan, I don't think that was a dream, I think that was a vision." That inspired the concept of music competition becoming a sport. On April 25th, 2015, Juan hosted the organization's first competition, "2015 Hampton Roads-IACS Championship" under the organization, "IACS Music-Sports League" at Shakas Live in Virginia Beach, VA. The winner was a rap artist called, "B.A.S.I.C." Juan continued to run games from up to 2018. He had to take a 3-hiatus to re-strategize on making the league more effective. In 2021, Juan registered Music-Sports League as a nonprofit.
Since then, he's just as passionate and ambitious to see the vision a reality as he was back in 2014. Juan's goal with the IACS is to see it grow into an international league, and, ultimately, petition to be a part of the Olympic Games within 20 years.
